Dear NMR Colleagues,



With sorrow we inform you of the passing of Professor Zeev Luz.



After a long sickness, Zeev Luz (nominated Professor Emeritus in 2001),
from the Chemical and Biological Physics Department at the Weizmann
Institute Rehovot, Israel) passed away, two days ago.



Zeev Luz was one of pioneers and most active contributors in the field of
NMR spectroscopy in oriented solvents (Liquid crystals) and its
applications in various domains (molecular ordering and dynamics),

since the late 1950s. His articles (more than 300) remain a model for
content and elegance.



We can remember him as a fantastic personality and both a great teacher and
an open-minded scientist.



He will be missed by many colleagues and friends of the “anisotropic NMR”
community, and beyond that of NMR Sciences.



During his active years, Prof. Luz was Vice President of Academic Affairs
and also Dean of the Chemistry Faculty.



Our sincerest condolences to his family.
