In the name of the International Society of Magnetic Resonance (ISMAR), the Brazilian NMR Users Association (AUREMN) and the Organizing Committee, I am happy to invite you for participating at the ISMAR 2013, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from May 19
th to 24
th.
The ISMAR Meeting is one of the most important events of the world because it covers all the topics and applications of magnetic resonance in all areas of science. Accordingly, this meeting will be conducted with ten plenary lectures and four parallel sessions of different topics, with the participation of world wide scientists, technicians and students, as well as the exposition of several important companies dedicated to magnetic resonance in science, applications and commerce. I also invite you to participate in the two satellite meetings; the Vth Iberoamerican NMR Meeting and the Biomedical Imaging Symposium.
Magnetic resonance is a fundamental scientific method and research area, with great impact in physics, chemistry, biochemistry, biology, biophysics, geology, material sciences and medicine. Until now, ten scientists working on the development of magnetic resonance were awarded with Nobel prizes, indicating the strength and importance of this research area. At this meeting, it will be presented several of the most innovative and important contributions in magnetic resonance, leading to a strong motivation of development on science and technology.
Rio de Janeiro is a beautiful city, with several attracting locations and activities for tourists. This meeting will be at the Royal Tulip Hotel, located 14 km away from Copacabana, in front of Pepino beach, at São Conrado. The meeting organization will provide shuttle buses for all ISMAR attendants from Leme, Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon to the conference site. In this event there will also be several social activities, such as the welcome cocktail, and the Brazilian Night, a special confraternization party that includes dinner, Brazilian music and dance.
I expect your participation and scientific contribution, where I am sure that you will find a beautiful and friendly environment to gather and exchange scientific information.
Please do not hesitate to ask for help or information on any details of the event and other related activities. It will be a pleasure to meet you here and share this event with you.

Pre-Conference Meetings
Pre-Conference Meetings will be organized on sunday May 19 2013 by WW-NMR and We-NMR. Participation is free for all conference attendee's.
We-NMR Workshop
This workshop will provide a general introduction to grid computing and the We-NMR services currently available through the We-NMR virtual research community portal (
We-NMR), with emphasis on structure calculation and refinement with AMBER, analysis of SAXS data for complexes with MAXOCC and docking with HADDOCK.
The objective of We-NMR is to optimize and extend the use of NMR and SAXS research infrastructures through the implementation of an e-infrastructure in order to provide the user community with a platform integrating and streamlining the computational approaches necessary for NMR and SAXS data analysis and structural modeling. We-NMR allows groups lacking the resources to add NMR and SAXS to their toolbox, as well as dedicated NMR groups to improve their standard from basic practice towards cutting-edge research.
- Expected number of participants: 30
- Application: Candidates should submit an email to wenmrrio@gmail.com containing a short CV and a letter stating their research interests and the impact they expect this workshop will have on their research.
- Application dead line: April 30th, 2013
- Participants should have experience with Linux and are asked to bring their own laptop with at least 8Gb of free space on disk

Homepage of WW-NMR
WW-NMR is a world wide Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) initiative to bring together research groups and institutions specialised in all aspects of NMR spectroscopy in Europe with laboratories in five other countries. The program has been funded by the EU as an IRSES program.
WW-NMR builds on EU-funded infrastructures in the Europe and supports strategic and sustainable links between these infrastructures with nine Partners from outside Europe who have developed life science projects which are highly relevant to the European groups. NMR spectroscopy is a broadly applicable technology relevant to all aspects of Life Science research, with major influence and impact on the biomedical industries.
PARTNERS
The proposed research project brings together internationally recognized leaders from 15 academic institutions and 10 countries who share complementary knowledge and skill sets. Together they will collaborate on advances in the field of NMR spectroscopy for molecular and structural biology, research of ligand and membrane interactions and signaling, and metabolomics.
